Acupuncture
Acupuncture works with the vital energy inherent within all living things to promote the body’s ability to heal itself.

This vital energy (or Qi, pronounced Chee), flows along specific pathways called “meridians.” Each pathway is associated with a particular physiological system and internal organ. Symptoms, disharmony and disease arise due to deficiency, excess of imbalance of energy in the meridians and their associated physiological systems.

Acupuncture points are specific point along the surface of the skin that tap into this vital energy. Each point has a predictable effect upon the Qi and therefore, physiology. Modern science has been able to measure the electrical charge and its effect, corroborating the locations of meridians mapped by practitioners thousands of years ago.

Benefits
Traditional acupuncture, rooted in nature and the five elements, functions on the level of the body, mind and spirit. Acupuncture effectively treats a variety of health concerns. Many people who experienced acupuncture report that they:
  • Have increased vitality and stamina

  • Are sick less often and recover more quickly

  • Spend less money for long-term health care costs

  • Experience significant improvement or complete disappearance of symptoms

  • The Needles
The needles used are extremely thin, about the thickness of two human hairs. The needles are pre-sterilized, individually packaged and disposed of after each use. During treatment needles are inserted just beneath the skin and, although sensations vary from person to person, most patients report little or no discomfort.

    The First Visit
Your first visit requires about two hours, during which time you have the opportunity to speak at length about your health concerns. The initial visit is designed to enable you to provide valuable information about your current situation. We will discuss your health and personal histories relevant to your treatment goals and a physical exam will be conducted.

You will receive your first acupuncture treatment at the end of this session.
